According to Wikipedia, "Here be dragons" means,
"dangerous or unexplored territories, in imitation of a supposed medieval practice of putting dragons, sea serpents and other mythological creatures in uncharted areas of maps."
I find this to be all-too appropriate as I take my first steps into uncharted territories of my career.
Blood of Dragons is, in essence, a mental landscape that has been building up in my mind over the last decade or so. At different points I have described it as "a story-setting," or "a comic I'm thinking of working on", or even “a novel, I’m thinking of writing”. But, at the end of the day, after all of my freelance work, there usually doesn’t seem to be time left for me to sit down and get to the act of tackling these projects.
However, I have managed to steal away a few moments here and there to create artworks set in this landscape filled with Dragons, mystical warriors, and mages. I hope to use this space to connect with others out there with whom my creations resonate. I plan to explore the Blood of Dragons setting in greater detail, showing how the forces of the Draconis Imperium have decimated many worlds, and what happens when they set their sights on earth. We’ll see a resistance formed of modern-day Wizard families and their mystical warriors that are the first line of defence against the all-consuming nature of the Dragons.
My ultimate goal is to turn this new foray into a means to sustain myself and my family. It seems like a daunting and formidable undertaking, and the path isn’t clear, but I’m hoping that with your support I might find a way to face my own dragons.
